Ultilisation of basement
The European Geothermal Workshop (EGW) 2026 brings together researchers, engineers, and industry professionals to discuss the latest advancements in geothermal research. Hosted by the Technical University of Darmstadt (TU Darmstadt), Germany, the workshop will take place from 29th September 2026 to 1st October 2026. This year's central theme is the "Utilization of the Basement".
The event is co-hosted by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), and the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ). A major highlight of EGW 2026 will be the introduction of the GeoLab project—a large-scale geothermal research infrastructure currently in preparation that aims to support advanced, complex experiments for researchers worldwide.
Based on the theme "Utilization of the Basement," the scientific program will feature the following sessions:
